What kind of murmur fills the libraries’ reference rooms in Dublin and Sergiyev Posad? Where do we find the wildest karaoke — in Lithuania or in Russia? Can you tell the waves splashing against the shores of the Indian Ocean apart from those of the Lesnoye Lake in Sergiyev Posad?
A new sound map is now available at oontz.ru — an audio archive of Sergiyev Posad and the surrounding areas. In this map we take a look at how the same scenes sound different in different cities and countries.
A post about these recordings and how and where they were made could be found here. Many of those audio pieces are binaural — or 3d, if that’s a better term, which makes them more lifelike when listened with headphones.
At the moment there are four sound maps at oontz.ru:
- People of Sergiyev Posad speak about the sounds of their part of the city as they walk through it: www.oontz.ru/en/posad (2011)
- Four Times of the Day: www.oontz.ru/en/karta (2012)
