Designer Alexander Tupitsyn takes us through the rural and the urban as we explore the sounds of his native semi-dachas Yuznhy area of Sergiyev Posad as well as the more city-like neighbourhoods of Klementiyevka and Vorobiyovka. He shares his knowledge of the clickety-clacks made by the various types of trains that use to pass by his house, recalls the ambience of the now long gone large grocery venue, and muses about the ethics behind the sport school, church and a building site situated closely to the old cemetery – among other things. Traders and customers voices at the Sergiyev Posad fair. Twice a year this fair fits in the local tennis courts featuring lots of stuff: from foods and board games to clothing and cosmetics.

Theatre director and photographer Alexander Terenkov talks about his formative years spent in Skobyanka, a southeastern suburb of Sergiyev Posad. His route passes along Skobyanka’s ZEMZ electrical works, Oktyabr cultural centre, Temp stadium, the local secondary school, and finally – the fire station where his father served as a station chief. This recording also features sounds and memories relating to the following neighbouring areas: Ostrovok, Afanasofo, Kirpitchny Zavod Nomer Dva.

Is it just me or do they really play pre-recorded clapping? This recording was made at the posh Atrium Hall and the applause goes to the Sergiyev Posad district mayor and his colleagues. Oh my!
