Слышал ворон на Островке — так называется уголок Сергиева Посада. Островок расположен между Фермой и Скобянкой. В очередной раз убедился, что в городе очень своеобразная топонимика.

Your crows are easily recognisable to me but there seems to be a subtle difference in timbre to the ones I am used to. I didn’t expect there to be a regional accent 🙂 Are the hooded crows or the regular sort?
I like the distant train whistle, gives a eerie, desolate feel to the piece, rather atmospheric

up until now I wasn’t aware of the difference — they were just crows to the untrained eye (and ear), I have to admit. But thanks to your message I was able to take a closer look — today, I’ve uploaded a picture taken at the time of recording, and the chances are high that this one is hooded. Yep, that’s a hoodie, Corvus corone cornix (or possibly C c sharpii). Which is as expected from the distribution. I’ve seen these in Scotland (northern UK) but I did not observe an audible difference in the call. I have learned something new here, much appriecated — and I still love the counterpoint of that train whistle!
The crows I have around me are all black Carrion Crows.
